Cities In Motion Released

Submitted by John on Sat, 02/26/2011 - 21:39

Paradox Interactive released a new game yesterday called Cities In Motion. While not a city builder per se, the game looks like something that would appeal to city sim fans. Gameplay is apparently centered around constructing transport networks in historical cities. I'm a big fan of Paradox's games, so I'll definitely be checking it out!

Sounds interesting. It looks like the first good transport simulator since simutrans though this looks better.

2. I don't know, this looks like

I don't know, this looks like another, "Close-but-no-cigar," situation. Everybody is so dang close to just going the distance but nobody wants to just up and do it. Sheesh!

3. It's certainly no Sim City,

It's certainly no Sim City, but to be fair, it's not trying to be; it's just focused on the (mass) transit part of the equation. I've been playing around with it, and although it's got a few balance issues it's a pretty enjoyable game.

Actually Mighty, I would say the problem is not so much that no one *wants* to make a new city builder, it's more that nobody's willing to risk going bankrupt doing so, a la Monte Cristo.
