Cities XL Planet Offer Ends

Submitted by John on Thu, 01/28/2010 - 08:51

Monte Cristo announced yesterday that they would be discontinuing their controversial Planet Offer, the online, "MMO" component of Cities XL.  It seems that a lack of subscribers made the PO economically unfeasible.  They also announced that they will be continuing to work on the single player game, adding some of the PO content they have already developed and releasing an improved version of CXL called "CXL 2011".

Although I personally felt the Planet Offer was an ill-considered strategy for a city builder game, it's always sad to see another option for players disappear.  It remains to be seen if, now that they are concentrating more fully on the single player experience, they will be able to deliver on the promises of the Cities Unlimited days... and whether players will support them.
