Site Updates

I've consolidated the three parts of the draft charter and uploaded them to a permanent page on the site, which you can find here, or through the "Charter" link at the bottom of the page. There's still more to cover organization-wise, and some of what's been outlined will probably end up changing along the line (as an obvious example, the poll on voting methods is still open); But, I think the basic framework is sound, or at least enough so to start developing the site's infrastructure more aggressively. I enabled commenting on the draft page, so don't hesitate to chime in with your ideas!

The site's been up about a month and a half now, and I'm mostly pleased with how it's been shaping up; but something about the design wasn't really sitting well with me. It was a nice enough design, to be sure, but I kept hearing from various people that their first impression was of an architecture firm, or a consultant. I eventually realized that it looked good without expressing anything about what Metropolis is about. So, I started working on a revised design, but eventually ended up scrapping the old look completely and replacing it with the current one. I think it's a marked improvement; however, there's bound to be some spots where it could be improved, so let me know what you think!

I've posted a selection of forum avatars and banners with the Metropolis logo you can use to help promote the project.  They can be found on the Contribute page, near the bottom.  I'll be adding more as time goes on, so if there's a particular color or style you'd like to see let me know!  Use one for your avatar or signature and help spread the word!

I've just finished transcribing the comments that accompanied the posts on my old blog, since there were some very good points made in them that I didn't want to lose.  If you wrote a comment on the Next Generation, are a member here at Metropolis and would like your comment correctly attributed to your current username, drop me an email and I will change the authorship.  And of course, if you prefer not to have your comment transcribed let me know and I'll delete it!
